How to protect your skin from the UV Rays of the Sun
In North America, we all wait for the summer and can’t get enough of Sun as it not only feels good but also gives us the vitamin D boost that our bodies need.. At the same time, when we are heading out to enjoy the beautiful summer, it is vital to remember the sunscreen to save your skin.
Your skin needs protection from the sun’s harmful rays even if your skin tone is dark and you must keep in mind that over and above sunscreen there are several other ways to protect your skin from the harmful UV rays of the sun.
Ultraviolet (UV) radiation is part of the natural energy produced by the sun and prolonged exposure to UV rays can cause several types of damage to your skin right from rapid aging to skin cancer.
Exposure to UVA rays can cause rapid aging, pigmentation, and wrinkles. These rays are present on cloudy days too and can pass through the windows in your house and car. The UVB rays can burn your skin, damage the top layers of your skin, and can even cause sunburns and blisters. These rays can also damage your skin year-round because they can reflect off surfaces like ice and snow.
Here are a few tips to protect your skin from the harmful effects of the UV rays of the sun.
1) Cover your skin. Wear cotton clothes that are white or light in colors during summer and make sure to wear a shirt or t-shirt with long sleeves and collars to protect your skin.
2) Wear a hat to protect your face, neck, ears, and nose.
3) Put on the sunglasses.
4) Apply water-resistant sunscreen with SPF 30 or higher at least 20 minutes prior to stepping out in Sun.
5) Seek shade to avoid long-term exposure to the sun. Use other protection measures along with shade as the rays might reach you via reflection,
6) Use premium quality skincare to keep your skin hydrated and repair the damage caused by exposure to Sun. My favorite is the Artistry skin nutrition line.
