Shatavari and Dates Milk

Shatavari and dates milk is a nourishing beverage that can be beneficial, especially during the postpartum period. Shatavari is known in Ayurveda for its rejuvenating properties and is often used to support female reproductive health. Dates add natural sweetness and provide energy.

While Shatavari (Asparagus racemosus) is generally considered safe for most people, there are certain individuals who should exercise caution or avoid its consumption. It's always advisable to consult with a healthcare professional or an Ayurvedic practitioner before incorporating any new supplement or herb. Individuals who have digestive disorders, hormone-sensitive conditions, kidney disorders, allergies, cancer, PCOS, and other medical conditions should consult an Ayurvedic practitioner or an Ayurvedic doctor before consuming Shatavari.

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup milk (dairy or plant-based)

  • 1 teaspoon Shatavari powder

  • 3-4 dates, pitted and chopped

  • 1/4 teaspoon cardamom powder (optional)

  • 1 teaspoon ghee (optional)

Instructions:

Prepare Shatavari Infusion:

  • Heat one cup of milk in a saucepan until it's warm but not boiling.

  • Add 1-2 teaspoons of Shatavari powder to the warm milk. Let it steep for a few minutes.

  • Blend Dates:

    • In a blender, combine the pitted and chopped dates with a small amount of warm milk. Blend until you get a smooth date paste.

  • Combine Ingredients:

    • Add the date paste to the Shatavari-infused milk and stir well until everything is thoroughly mixed.

  • Optional Additions:

    • Add a pinch of cardamom powder for flavor. Cardamom is also beneficial in postpartum recovery.

    • For extra nourishment, you can stir in a teaspoon of ghee.

  • Strain (Optional):

    • If you prefer a smoother texture, you can strain the mixture to remove any date fibers.

  • Serve Warm:

    • Pour the shatavari and dates milk into a cup and serve it warm.

Enjoy this nourishing beverage during the postpartum period for its potential benefits in supporting reproductive health, providing energy, and aiding in recovery. As always, consult with a healthcare professional or an Ayurvedic practitioner, especially if you have any specific health concerns or conditions.
