What does vitamin C do?

Vitamin C is one of the 13 essential vitamins and minerals and your body cannot produce it hence it is important that you take your daily dose of Vitamin C. For the average adult, that recommended dose is 75 and 90 milligrams daily, and you may want more to support your overall health.

Vitamin C acts as an antioxidant, improves your immune system, and helps to protect your cells from free radicals. It also helps your body absorb iron and works to support your immune system.

Vitamin C helps you fight against inflammation.

As a strong antioxidant Vitamin C, boosts your blood antioxidant levels and may help reduce the risk of chronic diseases like high blood pressure and heart disease.

So now that you know the benefits of Vitamin C, you might wonder how to get your daily dose of Vitamin C. Normally, when you hear the word “Vitamin C”, chances are you have images of oranges or grapefruit or orange juice or lemons but did you know that Broccoli, Bell pepper, Kale or acerola cherries also have high Vitamin C content? Exotic fruits like Kakadu plums have 100 times more Vitamin C than Oranges.

Did you know 1 Mango has 122.3 grams of Vitamin C and also Lychee, one of my favorite fruit also has high Vitamin C content. Not a fan of fruits? Don’t worry. With veggies like Kale, chili peppers, sweet bell peppers, broccoli, and Brussel sprouts we got you covered.

This is not enough? Don’t worry. The list goes on and on. Vitamin C is also found in tomatoes, cantaloupe, kiwi, red cabbage, strawberries, persimmons, spinach, turnips, mustard greens, and herbs like parsley and thyme.

Still, you feel you have gaps in your diet and might not be able to meet the recommended daily dose of vitamin C from your diet?
